5 Things You Need To Know About Becoming a Video Game Tester

Becoming a video game tester? Now that sounds like a great job! Imagine looking forward to work every day and working from the comfort of your own home. By becoming a video game tester, you can! Whilst it sounds like a dream job, there are some things to consider before taking the plunge.

The first thing you must understand is that the work can be long and boring. Initially, you will probably enjoy playing the game, but that is the fun may stop after playing the game for a tenth time. Gaming companies may ask you to go through a game in a week. Although this seems very easy, going through the game several times to test each character and analyze each weapon can be very time consuming.

In addition to this, each map must be tested thoroughly. This is then followed by a detailed report with all errors and technical problems listed. The reason for this is that if the developer made a mistake in a line of script, you must find it. This error is your responsibility to find and report!

The short deadlines may result in long working hours for you. Video game companies are under pressure and this pressure is then passed on to you. However, there are positives! If you like video games and enjoy playing the latest games, this is the line of work for you. Expect to get the better games (think Call of Duty), that is, the ones from the big developers, after you have experience though!

Now to the five things you must know before applying for a job:

Use Video Game Copy Software So You Can Copy Video Games

There has never been an easier way to create backups for all of your media files than now. All you need to do is download video game copy software and you will be on your way to protecting all of the discs in your collection. It is very important to create duplicates of your games, especially the rarest to find. It is because you do not want the originals to run the risk of becoming damaged. It would be much better if you could create a backup copy and play that instead of the actual game. Then you do not have to worry about any problems that could potentially bust the original.

The technology of video game copy software have really taken off in the past few years. You will now be able to burn backups in record time. But do not think it will cost you an arm and a leg. These new programs are less than $50 and they run perfectly. You will not even have to pay anything after the initial purchase. Once you buy the video game copy software, you will be able to start copying all of your discs and really give the originals the protection they deserve.

The price of new video games is extremely high at the moment and it does not look like they will be getting cheaper anytime soon. That is why you need to make sure to create backups for your most important inventory. Say for example that one of your favorite games becomes scratched beyond any recognition by some unknown event. If you have no backup, you need to go to the store and drop another large sum of money to replace it. Now, let’s say you made a copy of that same game. Then the same situation happened and you came home to see your burned copy was really scratched and it did not work anymore. Well, you are still going to have to replace it, but this time you will only spend the cost of one blank disc to recopy the original.

From ColecoVision To iPhone Games: Some High Water Marks In Video Game Design History – Part 10

In this ongoing look at significant moments in the history of video game design, we have already taken a look at Bungie’s Halo & Halo 2, Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls series, Nintendo’s Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out and several others. The goal of this series is to go beyond simple gaming magazines and iphone apps reviews, and take a closer look at what defines memorability and quality in game design. In this tenth part of the series we will examine some more of those classic moments where video game designers undoubtedly got it right and delivered a memorable, enduring and progressive gaming experience.

Half-Life 2: Years of perceived and actual delays, a highly publicized code theft and endless speculation made up just part of the massive discourse leading up to the release of Valve Software’s follow up to their mega-hit Half Life. The rare sequel that surpasses the original in nearly every aspect, Half-Life 2 released to incredible sales and nearly universal praise from game critics and players worldwide. While trying to single out an element of Half Life 2 to praise above others is akin to locating a unique snowflake, we can simply play it safe and focus on the game’s true star, the gravity gun.

Manipulation of the environment in video games was not a new thing when Half Life 2 released in 2004. Classic games like Lode Runner and next generation titles such as Red Faction had used these kinds of tactics in the past and managed to make them an integral aspect of gameplay. However, where those games relied on environmental manipulation as a component of gameplay, Half Life 2 (HL2) used it as the central thesis for its entire gameplay strategy. As Half-Life will forever be known for its crowbar, its sequel has become synonymous with the gravity gun, and it is this single weapon/device that is the focus of this light of praise.

Best Gaming Experience through Video Game Deals

Video Game Reviews

One of the most sought digital experiences an individual is looking for these days is the great encounter of playing the best games either on console, or online. The player considers the game title, genre, audio, graphics, and game play when choosing the game he wants to spend time with. To have an assurance that this experience will not be a flop along with the money being worth it, gamers rely on video game news where they are given reviews and previews of the game to be bought.

With the so many games released these days, a gamer may ask of what video games are the best things to play. Month after month, there are better and newer games that are being sold in shops where you need to think if the game will be bought is worth the expense and the money to be spent. Although there have been gaming titles that we have already been used to seeing, playing other games can be a good investment since the same title and genre can be quite sickening on some occasions, even to the point where you need to play something else to have a different atmosphere when playing the game of your choice and liking.

With this mentioned, some gamers have gone through the path where they have tried to take the risk in buying games without having much of an idea on what the game is about, and if it is play and time worthy to begin with. This is the reason why some sites have created video game reviews so that a player can know something about the game before buying it. Though you can play some titles on video game shops before you buy it, it can be some sort of inconvenience to you and to the store attendant if the games will be tested on the spot.

Heavy Rain – Video Game Review

Video Game Reviews

When a game is released with as much hype as Heavy Rain, I get a sinking feeling in my stomach. How many times previously have we been told this is the greatest game ever created, only to abandon it after 15 minutes of game play due to that felling of same old same old? I have to say before I go any further that no, Heavy Rain isn`t the greatest game ever to hit the shelves, but for a riotous and addictive assault on your senses, it comes pretty close.

Unless you`ve been on vacation to Mars recently, you can`t have failed to miss the marketing campaign. In turn, you should already know that the story revolves around a quartet of protagonists who are fighting to first track down and ultimately capture a serial killer known by the pseudonym the Origami killer. A simple premise indeed, but greatly improved by the way the story is told in an unapologetically adult manner. By adult I don`t mean graphic sex and violence, I mean that it respects the player and doesn`t patronize as so many of these types of game invariably do. You actually feel empathy with the characters as you explore their psyche, this gives a much more rewarding experience than other RPG games do.

Something that could have been made better is the non-traditional way that you interact with the setting. The buttons and sticks for the various commands are cumbersome at best, and although they don`t spoil the game play, they do get frustrating at times. The biggest downfall is the when you are trying to control the movements of your characters, there isn`t a direct link and seems to be more of a half hearted attempt. One thing I would strongly advise is to play Heavy Rain via a Dualshock3 controller. Not since Metal Gear Solid has the rumble feature been used to such great effect.

Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty – Video Game Review

Video Game Reviews

I’ve been waiting a long time for the sequel to Starcraft. I wasn’t exactly sure if Blizzard could update the game and still keep the same feel. I am happy to say that they have! The game play you know and love from the original is all there but the graphics have been brought into the 21rst century. Here is a quick run down of my experience so far:

Graphics: I’m not running the most state-of-the-art computer, but the game runs great on the “High” settings. I’m running an Intel E7400 with 4 GB of RAM and Dual NVidia 9600 GT OC’s in SLI. I had just a bit of stutter on “Ultra” settings, so I turned it down a bit.

Sound: The audio is a mix of “blast from the past” and “Wow! That is cool they added that!”

An avid gamers of Starcraft  will noticed right away with regards to menu , You can even select the music you want to play as the background  and lastly an allies that wil response.

Control: I hope you remember your hotkeys from SC1 because you’ll be needing them. The interface is pretty much cut and paste from SC1 but it has been updated for today’s graphics. Camera control is very nice, but I haven’t yet found a way to rotate the view and you are pretty limited to how far you can zoom out.

Single-player  play games : There are some interesting new aspects to the single-player game. You get to research upgrades and purchase new types of units (warning: some of these units are NOT available in multi-player). You also get delivered the storyline in face-to-face chats with other characters as well as through the standard cut scenes.  As for during mission game play, Blizzard has stayed true to form. Basically if you likes SC1 in single-player, you should love SC2′s single-player mode.

Bayonetta Video Game Review

Video Game Reviews

Bayonetta is a game that will intrigue players just by its sheer sense of curiosity. It is a completely wacky game that tugs on every cord of imagination. The game revolves around a girl who must fight her way through the game in order to complete her mission. It is a game that will have you laughing and wondering at the same time, but in the end will have you love it to its core.

Bayonetta is not just a game that involves crazy scenes and unbelievable stunts and enemies; it also has a strong plot. Bayonetta herself is a witch that has been asleep for over five hundred years. She has waked from the bottom of the sea and has a memory that is a bit foggy. She can remember however, that she needs to find ‘The eyes of the world` and through the help of an onlooker, discovers that she must head to a city called Vigrid to find them.

The journey begins as Bayonetta stands in front of a clock face with an army of enemies behind her. The clock face falls and crumbles off of a mountain top and slams on the ground, and that is the prelude to the rest of the game. The game drifts in and out of insanity, with crazy things happening all around her. And as insane as the game is, she fits into the role as in one scene; she stores a monster up in her hair.

The combating in the game is what sets it apart from the rest. The fighting fives you the ability to perform feats and be part of the magic of the game. You can use a powerful item concoction mode, a comprehensive scoring system with leader boards and a screen disguised as a practise mode.

The Strength of the Online Game Market

Games and Hardware

One might be tempted to say that it would be difficult for the younger generations to imagine a time before the existence of video games, even if that was just around three decades ago. The industry has come into its own on the cusp of a technological revolution, pushing the boundaries of what had once been thought possible for simple hardware. Since their inception, they’ve moved from simple pads passing a ball between them to the overly complex systems that simulate capabilities traditionally ascribed to deities. The fact that so many games are becoming more and more accessible has helped, particularly in the wake of the multiplayer boom and the emergence of MMOs. In fact, among the easiest ways to introduce someone to video games is to get them to download games and experience it for themselves.

This video games craze is here to stay. It is certain that as more and more innovations and improvements take place, video games will always be around. Think about this: almost all of the people you know have some kind of gaming device at home. They may have portable gaming devices, consoles or even personal computers. There are many different types and forms of video games, but at the very least, there is most likely one computer in every home. All these types of gaming devices now have Internet capabilities, even more revolutionizing the gaming experience.

Manufacturers have also caught on the multi-function trend and have come up with gaming machines that also offer other kinds of entertainment. This is because they not only want you to play their games on their machine; they also want you to download from their site. There’s even an option for you to download additional media from their site. Most people think it’s really convenient since they only have to go to a single site to get all the kinds of media they’re looking for. They don’t have to go through the hassle of searching for it all over the net.
